Hunt for men who stole cigarettes and cash during armed robbery

Police have launched an investigation following the incident on Main Street in Renton on Thursday evening.

Police have launched a hunt for two men following an armed robbery at a shop in West Dunbartonshire.

Officers are appealing for information following the incident at the shop on Renton’s Main Street at around 8pm on Thursday.

The men threatened staff with what was believed to be a knife before running off with a four figure sum of money and a quantity of cigarettes.

The first suspect is described being around 5ft 10in in height, wearing a black hooded jacket, black trainers and black jogging bottoms with a white emblem on the left thigh and a red stripe at the side of the trouser leg.

The second man is described as being around 5ft 10in in height, wearing a grey lightly padded jacket with a grey hood and black sleeves, jeans and grey/reflective trainers.

He was wearing black gloves, a white mask and brandished a blue handled kitchen knife.

Detective Constable Lee Mulholland said: “Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of this incident but it was very distressing for the staff member involved.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who has any information, who may have seen the men matching the above description or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us.”
