Police are hunting for a man with a dog following a serious assault which left another in hospital in North Ayrshire.

At around 6.50pm on Sunday May 28, the incident occurred at a premises in the Greenock Road area of Largs.

A 36-year-old-man sustained serious injuries as a result of the attack and was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment.

The male suspect is believed to have made off from the scene and headed north on Greenock Road.

He is described as white, around 6ft in height and of medium build.

He has short dark hair, and at the time was wearing beige cargo shorts, a black t-shirt, a black gilet and dark Adidas trainers. 

The suspect also accompanied by a white and brown Collie breed dog.

Detective constable John Cuthbert said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of this attack and we are appealing to anyone who may have been in this area at the time and may have witnessed this incident.

“I would urge anyone with information about this incident or the suspect to please contact police.”
