A woman has been left “extremely shaken” after being assaulted in North Ayrshire.

Police Scotland have launched an appeal for witnesses after the 35-year-old woman was assaulted in Saltcoats.

Officers were called to The Braes area around 1:20am on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

Police said the woman was not seriously injured from the assault but has been left “shaken” by the incident.

Detective inspector Fraser Spence said: “It’s vital we find out exactly what happened to this woman.

“Although she wasn’t seriously injured, she’s been left extremely shaken by what happened.

“We know the area isn’t particularly busy at that time of night, so I’d ask anyone who was in The Braes or shore front area around 1am on Saturday to contact us. You may have information which could assist our enquiries.

“I would also appeal to anyone with private CCTV or dash cam footage to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference 0249 of November 11, 2023.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
