Police hunt for man who chased lone woman while she walked home

The woman made it home safely but was 'significantly alarmed' by the incident.

Police are hunting for a man after a woman was chased to her front door while walking home in the early hours of Thursday morning.

At around 1.30am on July 7, a 19-year-old woman was walking alone along Westerhouse Road in Glasgow when an unknown man, dressed in all black, began to chase her.

She made it home safely and the man continued to run towards Edinburgh Road.

The man did not speak to her or make any physical contact, but was said to cause “significant alarm” to the woman.

Officers are now appealing for any witnesses who were on Westerhouse Road and Wellhouse Road between 1.20am and 1.45am on Thursday, or anyone who may have information or dashcam footage.

Constable Ryan Corey of Glasgow Easterhouse station said: “This incident caused the woman significant alarm as she walked home from work.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was on Westerhouse Road and Wellhouse Road between 1.20am and 1.45am on Thursday with any information or dashcam footage.

“Anyone who may have witnessed this should contact officers on 101 quoting incident 1599 of July 7, 2022.”
