Police dog Gizmo sniffs out £1.4m of cannabis in lorry and stolen car in Dumfries and Galloway Police Scotland

A police dog sniffed out two loads of cannabis estimated to be worth more than £1.4m from a HGV and a stolen car in Dumfries and Galloway.

PD Gizmo joined officers while they searched what turned out to be a stolen vehicle on July 5, at Loch Ryan Port in Cairnryan.

Police Scotland said the pup made a positive indication, and as a result, drugs believed to be cannabis were discovered in the car.

The next day, at around 10.45pm, a HGV at the same location was also positively identified by Gizmo as containing narcotics.

Officers searched the lorry and again seized drugs believed to be cannabis.

The force said that both seizures have a combined potential street value of more than £1.4m.

A 32-year-old man was arrested, charged and appeared at Stranraer Sheriff Court on Friday, July 8 in connection with the seizure on July 6, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
