Plans for Greggs to open in Glasgow Central Station rejected SNS Group

Greggs has seen a bid to open a new shop inside Glasgow Central Station refused by the council.

The popular bakery already has multiple stores across the city but submitted an application to take over a unit inside the train station in October 2023.

Unit 26, previously used by Patisserie Valerie and Shelter Scotland, was the subject of plans which would have included alterations to the concourse shop and addition of signage

Glasgow City Council made the decision to refuse the application on Monday, February 26.

The council said the proposal “would collectively result in an obscure and inactive shopfront along one side of the unit and would not respect the appearance of the listed building”.

Greggs has been contacted for comment.
