A person was cut from a car after becoming trapped following a rush hour crash on Monday morning in East Renfrewshire.

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash on Glasgow Road in Barrhead shortly before 9am on July 31.

The casualty was transferred into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and the extent of their injuries is unknown.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving two cars on Glasgow Road in Barrhead shortly after 8.50am on Monday, July 31.

“Emergency services are at the scene and the road is currently blocked.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called to assist emergency service partners at 9.06am on Monday, July 31 to reports of a road traffic collision on Glasgow Road, Barrhead. 

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the incident involving two vehicles.

“Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to safely remove one casualty trapped within their vehicle. 

“They were transferred into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service for treatment.

“Crews left the scene at 9.51am after ensuring the area was made safe.”
