Police are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner was seriously injured in a hit and run in Glasgow on Hogmanay.

The incident happened around 8pm on December 31 on Mosspark Drive between its junctions with Arbroath Avenue and Tealing Avenue.

The 68-year-old woman was crossing the road when she was struck by a grey Yamaha MT-07 that was travelling north towards Paisley Road West.

The rider of the motorbike took off in the direction of Tealing Avenue.

Emergency services attended and the woman sustained serious injuries.

She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where her condition is described as serious but stable.

Police said their enquiries established that the motorbike was stolen from an address in Edinburgh, reported on December 19.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “There were a number of people in the area and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened, particularly if you have dash-cam footage or private CCTV that could assist with our enquiries.

“It is also vital that we trace the motorbike rider.

“Our investigation so far suggests he made off on foot along Tealing Avenue and onto Bucklaw Gardens so anyone in this area who saw him and where he went is also asked to get in touch.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2984 of December 31, 2023.
