A pensioner has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car whilst crossing the road.
The 79-year-old woman had been crossing Coatbank Street in Coatbridge on Wednesday.
Police say she was hit by a silver Peugeot 208 being driven by a 42-year-old at the pedestrian crossing near to its junction with the Faraday Retail Park at around 6.10pm.
She was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital in Wishaw before being transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
The woman is described as being in a serious but stable condition.
The driver of the car was not injured as a result of the incident.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash or anyone who was driving on the road at the time who has dash-cam footage to contact the office of Sergeant Craig McDonald through 101 with reference number 2620 of December 15.
