A pensioner has died after crash involving his van near a recycling centre in Newton Mearns.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene on the A77 shortly after 5.15pm on Saturday evening following reports of an incident involving the Ford Transit.
Several motorists and eyewitnesses stopped in an effort to provide aid near the Greenhaggs Recycling Centre but the 73-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after medical teams arrived.
The road was closed for several hours while officers carried out an initial investigation.
An appeal has now been launched for any witnesses who did not previously speak to investigators to get in touch as soon as possible.
Sergeant Paul Mellis, from the Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “At this time, our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the deceased.
“Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing. We know that a number of motorists and members of the public stopped to assist at the scene, prior to emergency services arriving, and I would ask anyone who has not spoken to police to please get in touch.
“If you have any information, please call us on 101, quoting incident 2701 of August 20.”
