A pensioner has died after his car overturned near to Silverburn Shopping Centre.

Emergency services attended following the incident at around midday on Saturday, March 5.

The 75-year-old man had been driving a silver Land Rover Defender on Cowglen Road.

It overturned near to the junction with Peat Road, with the man pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old woman, a passenger in the car, was taken to hospital for treatment to a hand injury.

Both Cowglen Road and Peat Road were closed while crash investigation work was carried out and reopened at around 3.55pm.

Police have asked that anyone who may have witnessed the incident to speak to them.

Sergeant Christopher Hoggans, of the Road Policing Department, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“There were a number of people around as it was a busy Saturday afternoon and I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened who has not yet spoken to officers to get in touch.

“In addition I am asking anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist with our enquiries to also get in touch.”
