A 69-year-old man suffered fatal injuries in a house fire in Glasgow at around 3.35am on Friday morning.

A pensioner has died after a fire tore through a house in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Corbett Street after the alarm was raised at around 3.35am on Friday morning.

Police confirmed a 69-year-old man died as a result of the blaze.

Officers do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances and efforts are now being made to find the man’s next of kin.

A spokesperson said: “A 69-year-old man has died following a fire at a house in Corbett Street in Glasgow on Friday, November 20.

“Emergency services were called to the address at around 3.35am.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and enquiries are currently ongoing to trace his next of kin.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
