A man, aged 39, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision on Saturday night.

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a HGV on a motorway in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision on the M74 however a 39-year-old man was pronounced dead.

The incident occurred near to the on-ramp from Polmadie at Junction 1A around 11.35pm on Saturday.

The crash involved a red Scania HGV vehicle.

The road was closed for around five hours and reopened at 5am.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans, Glasgow Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“Despite the time of night, the M74 was still busy with traffic and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have seen what happened. 

“I am also appealing for anyone with relevant dash-cam footage to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 5187 of June 3, 2023.”
