Pedestrian dies after being struck by car on motorway

A man has died after being struck by a car on a motorway in Glasgow.

The 41-year-old, who was walking on the M8 eastbound carriageway, was hit by a Vauxhall Astra around 7.25pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services attended the incident, near to the on slip from the M77, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 36-year-old driver of the car was uninjured and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police have urged any witnesses of the incident to come forward.

Sergeant Jon Mochan said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact us, or anyone who seen a man walking on the motorway, as they may have information that will assist our investigation.

“I am also keen to hear from any drivers who were on the road at the time who have dash-cam footage. This footage will also assist our ongoing enquiries into this crash.”
