One dead and another in hospital as police close several city roads

A man has died and another has been rushed to hospital amid an incident which has seen police close several roads in Glasgow.

Emergency services received a report of concern for two men on Auchinloch Street around 5.25am on Friday.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

Police have closed Springburn Road, Turner Road, Petershill Road and Laverockhall Street, and drivers have been asked to avoid the area.

Enquires to establish the full circumstances into the incident remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of concern for two men on Auchinloch Street, Glasgow, around 5.25am on Friday, April 14, 2023.

“One man was pronounced dead at the scene and one man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“A number of road closures are in place, including Springburn Road, Turner Road, Petershill Road and Laverockhall Street.

“Drivers are asked to avoid the area.”
