Scot kicks off 2024 with huge £1m lottery win thanks to Halloween ticket

It took the winner three months to claim the prize after they originally bought a ticket for the draw on Halloween.

A North Lanarkshire lottery player has started the year with a bang after scooping a £1m prize in the EuroMillions.

It took the winner three months to claim the prize after they originally bought a ticket for the draw on October 31, 2023.

The National Lottery has confirmed they received a claim and that they will now carry out checks to confirm it is valid.

The operator said that the winner’s identity will not be revealed unless the ticket holder chooses to go public.

Following the validation process, the prize will then be paid at an appointment with a winner’s adviser.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said, “We are absolutely delighted that this lucky ticket-holder has come forward and claimed their prize, what a way to start 2024 – just imagine the possibilities for them this year!

“It’s now our job to support the ticket-holder through the process – we support each and every National Lottery winner in the same way – and we will do this as quickly as possible to ensure they can very soon begin to enjoy their life-changing win.”

All lottery players players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.
