The mother of a man who was allegedly murdered on Easter Sunday has said “he will be sadly missed”.
Peter McElroy, 45, was described as “a good boy at heart” following his death on Airdrie’s High Street.
Officers had been called to an incident around 4.40pm, where Mr McElroy was pronounced dead at the scene.
His mum, Rose McElroy, said: “Peter was a good boy at heart who was loved dearly by all his family and friends and he will be sadly missed.”
Gerard McGinlay, 38, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday accused of murder.
McGinlay, who court documents state is homeless, was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon.
He made no plea at the brief hearing and was remanded in custody pending a further court appearance.
