A single mum-of-two was discovered dead at her home after emergency crews were alerted by online gaming friends across the world when she failed to log on for a daily session.

Lauren Black was an avid player of Evony: The Kings Return, but the alarm was raised by fellow players from as far afield as Israel when she did not make contact on January 2.

The 35-year-old’s body was later found by her dog walker at the family home in Renfrew which she shared with her twin sons.

Police Scotland have launched an investigation, but say the death is being treated as “unexplained”.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

Reports say gamers from around the globe are now planning to fly to Scotland for Lauren’s funeral.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of the death of a 35-year-old woman at a property on Edgar Crescent in Renfrew around 10.10am on Tuesday, January 3.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”
