A multi-vehicle crash has closed a major road in both directions in Ayr.
Traffic Scotland confirmed that the A77 road between Holmston and Bankfield Roundabout was closed after a crash around 5.10pm on Wednesday.
Emergency services are on the scene.
Latest updates from the crash said that the road remained closed in both directions as of 6.10pm.
Drivers have been advised to use alternative routes.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
