Mountain rescue team assist walker with ‘broken ankle’

Moffat Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service to rescue a walker on Criffel.

A mountain rescue team was called to assist a walker near Dumfries on Wednesday afternoon.

At around 2pm, Moffat Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service to rescue a walker on Criffel.

The walker had suffered a suspected broken ankle near the summit of the hill.

Rescue 199, a search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick, also responded and arrived on scene at the same time as the 11 team members.

The team and the helicopter winchman treated the casualty at the scene and prepared them to be lifted by the helicopter.

The mountain rescue team escorted the walker’s husband from the hill.
