A motorcyclist has been left seriously injured after a crash on the A71 in South Lanarkshire.

The incident happened on Tuesday at around 1pm and involved a Kawasaki ER500 near the village of Drumclog.

The 55-year-old male rider was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed until around 5.25pm on Tuesday to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sargeant Stewart Taylor, of the Motherwell Road Policing unit, said: “Our investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision is ongoing, and I would urge anyone who can help to come forward.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage or who saw the vehicle on the road prior to the crash.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1635 of September 12.”
