‘Mistreatment of residents’ at care home probed by police

An investigation has been launched into reports that staff mistreated residents at a care home in East Dunbartonshire.

Police Scotland said it is investigating the alleged mistreatment of both current and previous residents at Springvale Care Home in Lennoxtown, Glasgow.

“Enquiries are at an early stage and all relevant partners and families have been made aware and are being kept informed,” Police Scotland said in a statement.

A number of residents are believed to have died at the residency during the coronavirus outbreak, but it is understood the current probe is not connected to Covid-19.
