An investigation has been launched after two men were found stabbed near to a police station on Saturday morning.

The first casualty was discovered with injuries to his chest in the Whittington Street area of Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, at around 6.55am.

A second man was then found with injuries to his back within a house on the same street.

Both were taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers remain at the scene while enquiries are carried out.

A force spokesperson said: “Police were called after a man was found with injuries to his chest in the Whittington Street area of Coatbridge at around 6.55am on Saturday.

“He has been taken for hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.

“A second man was found with injuries to his back within a property on Whittington Street and has also been taken to hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries into the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing and officers remain at the scene.”
