The body of a man has been pulled from a river as police launched an investigation into the “unexplained” death.
Emergency services were called to the scene at the River Ayr in the village of Catrine, East Ayrshire, on Tuesday morning at around 8.45am.
Officers confirmed they were investigating the death but said it did not appear to be suspicious.
The man’s age is not currently known.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.45am on Tuesday 28 December, 2021, police received a report a man’s body had been found in the River Ayr, Catrine, near Mauchline.
“Emergency services attended and the man has been recovered from the water.
“The death is being treated as unexplained, however, there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. Enquiries are ongoing.”
