A manhunt has been launched after a teenager was sexually assaulted on a cycle path in North Lanarkshire.
The 18-year-old woman was targeted by a man while walking along the bike path between Cairnhill Road and Calderbank Road in Airdrie at around 3.25pm on Tuesday.
Investigating officers said the teen was uninjured and did not require medical treatment, but was left “very distressed”.
The suspect is believed to be aged between 20 and 30, around 5ft 3-4in, and was slim with dark eyebrows.
He wearing a dark grey to charcoal-coloured light-weight puffa jacket and very light or pale grey jogging bottoms, which were tucked into black socks.
He was also wearing black trainers and a bright orange snood covering his face.
Detective sergeant Mark Nelson added: “The victim was very upset by the actions of the man.
“The area is popular with dog walkers and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.”
