A man has been taken to hospital and police have closed parts of a busy Glasgow road following a “disturbance” at Queen’s Park.

A stretch of Pollokshaws Road in the city’s southside was shut down at around 6.30pm with drivers urged to avoid the area.

The site, between Titwood Road and Queen Square, was cordoned off after Police Scotland was called to the scene.

A 29-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

STV News understands most roads in the area are now open.

At around 7pm, a Traffcom bulletin read: “Pollokshaws Road is completely closed to all traffic between Titwood Road and Queen Square due to an ongoing police incident.

“Road users should avoid the area if possible and seek an alternate route.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6pm on Monday, April 3, 2023 officers received a report of a disturbance at Queen’s Park, Glasgow.

“A 29-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2734 of March 3, 2023.”
