An investigation has been launched after a man was attacked with a knife on New Year’s Day.

The 34-year-old was found injured following the assault in Glasgow’s Gorbals area just before midnight on Friday. 

Police said it not known how many people were involved in the incident.

The man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to his injuries and was later discharged.

Detective constable James Johnston said: “This was a frightening incident for the man involved and has left him with serious injuries.

“We were looking to speak to anyone who was near Caledonia Road or Oregon Street around the time of the incident or those with dash cam footage from the area at that time, to come forward.”
