A man was chased before being stabbed in the chest during an attempted murder.
The 22-year-old was near a block of flats in Dalmuir, West Dunbartonshire, at around 1.45am on Thursday, where a group of around 12 people were gathered.
The victim was chased towards the central reservation of Dumbarton Road in the West Dunbartonshire town, before being attacked in Ottawa Crescent.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The suspect is described as wearing all black.
Detective sergeant Bruce Fyfe, of Clydebank CID, said: “We are treating this as an attempted murder and we’re appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to contact us.
“The victim was wearing a red jacket and despite the time of the incident, the disturbance outside the flat might have attracted attention with other residents as well as drivers on the A814.
“This type of violence shouldn’t be tolerated in the community so we would encourage people with any information to let us know.”
