A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being approached from behind and stabbed in a field in Dumbarton.
Police are probing the serious assault that took place at around 10.30am on Thursday, May 16 in a field behind Murroch Avenue.
A 30-year-old man was walking in the field when he was approached by a person from behind and assaulted.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow to be treated for stab wounds.
Medical staff describe his condition as serious.
Police said the man did not see who assaulted him and enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
Detective Constable John Pryde said: “The victim did not see the person who assaulted him and enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
“We are appealing for any witnesses who were in the surrounding area at the time and noticed anything suspicious to please get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1135 of Thursday, May 16, 2024.
