A man was seriously injured after being attacked in a house in North Lanarkshire.

Police are on the hunt for two men following the incident in Wishaw’s Ettrick Street at around 9.25pm on Thursday.

Investigating officers said the attackers entered a property and seriously assaulted a 34-year-old man before setting fire to a vehicle outside.

The victim was taken to Wishaw General Hospital and the blaze was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Detective constable David Duers said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim who sustained serious injuries as a result.

“The suspects arrived and left the scene in a dark-coloured vehicle, believed to be a Volvo. I would encourage anyone who saw the vehicle before or after the incident to get in touch with police.”
