iStockDetectives have launched an investigation after a man was battered with metal bats near to a Glasgow church.
The 53-year-old victim was seriously injured after being attacked in the city’s Castlemilk at around 2.40pm on Saturday.
The incident happened on a grass verge between Croftfoot Drive and Tormusk Road, near to St Bartholomew’s.
Police said the victim was approached by two other men, knocked to the ground, and hit with weapons described as metal bats or similar.
The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to his injuries.
The suspects, who were dressed in dark clothing and had their faces covered, are believed to have used a dark-coloured vehicle to drive off in the direction of Castlemilk Road.
Detective constable Gordon Reid said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.
“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage from the area.”
