A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a lorry in South Lanarkshire.

The 45-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after a Honda motorcycle crashed with an articulated vehicle on the A702, near Elsrickle, at around 6.40pm on Monday.

The driver of the lorry, a 40-year-old man, did not require hospital treatment.

Police have asked for any witnesses or anyone with any information about the crash to come forward.

Sergeant Andy Currie, from the road policing unit at Motherwell, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.

“Our inquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed this crash, or who has any information that will assist our investigation to contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone driving on this road shortly before the crash happened who has dash-cam footage to get in touch.

“Anyone with information should contact 101 with reference 3110 of June 6.”
