A man has been rescued after going missing following a night out in Scotland’s highest village in Dumfries and Galloway.
Around 4.15am on Friday morning, Police Scotland asked Moffat Mountain Rescue for assistance after the man failed to return to the house he was staying at following a night out in Wanlockhead.
The village is the highest in Scotland, elevated by 1531ft.
Three vehicles were mobilised by 14 team members from the mountain rescue team, who were also assisted by Galloway Mountain Rescue Team.
Police Scotland deployed local officers alongside mountain rescue teams from Strathclyde with dogs from SARDA Southern Scotland also used during the search.
A thermal imaging camera was also used with a drone on standby from Search and Rescue Aerial Operation.
The 25-strong team managed to locate the missing man, who had overshot the place he was travelling to before becoming disoriented in the remote area outside of Wanlockhead.
Moffat Mountain Rescue said on Facebook: “Fortunately he was none the worse for his night out in the hills of Wanlockhead but was soaked to the skin with the night’s rain.”
