Man left in hospital after 'violent' assault by gang of youths in park

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a 56-year-old man was attacked in Govanhill Park, Glasgow, on Friday evening.

A man has been left in hospital after being “violently” attacked by a group of youths while walking through a park in Glasgow.

Police were called to Govanhill Park at around 11.50pm on Friday after a 56-year-old man was attacked.

Emergency services took him to hospital, where he remains. His current condition is unknown.

Officers have established that the group made a “lot of noise” during the attack and when leaving the park, and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective constable Glenn Clark, from Cathcart CID, said: “This was a shockingly violent and unprovoked attack and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify and trace the youths responsible.

“We are asking anyone with information, or who may have seen anything in the area around the time of the incident, to please come forward.

“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 0047 of March 11, 2023.
