Man killed while walking dog after being hit by car

The 64-year-old and his pet were struck on Bartiebeith Road in Glasgow on Monday evening.

A man has been killed after being struck by a car while walking his dog in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Bartiebeith Road at around 8.30pm on Monday after a 64-year-old and his dog were struck by a red Nissan Micra.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dog was injured and taken to a vet, where its current condition is unknown.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow investigators to carry out enquiries but has since reopened.

Sergeant Adnan Alam, of Glasgow Road Policing, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact us.

“I would ask any motorists, particularly with dash cams who were in and around that area to check the footage as it may have captured images that could assist in our investigation.”
