A man is in hospital with serious injuries following an incident on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Robert Smillie Memorial Primary School in Larkhall at around 10.30pm.
The badly hurt 40-year-old man was taken to University Hospital Wishaw where he remains for treatment.
Police are still on the scene in the Glen Avenue area as their investigation follows a “positive line of enquiry”.
Detective sergeant Charles Limond, from Cambuslang CID, said: “Around 10.30pm on Friday, August 20, emergency services were called to the Glen Avenue area of Larkhall following a report of a man with serious injuries.
“The 40-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital Wishaw, where he currently remains.
“Officers are carrying out an investigation in the area and are following a positive line of enquiry.”
