A man has been taken to hospital and four people have been arrested after a street was closed down by police in North Ayrshire.
Officers were called to Paterson Avenue in Irvine at around 1.50am on Thursday morning.
A 46-year-old man was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse in Kilmarnock for treatment, while three men and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident.
Forensics teams were scouring the area on Thursday morning, while an area of road was cordoned off by police next to Paterson Stores Premier newsagents.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.50am on Thursday, July 6, 2023, we were called to a report of a disturbance in the Paterson Avenue area of Irvine.
“Emergency services attended and a 46-year-old man was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse for treatment.
“Three men, aged 42, 30, and 26, and a 29-year-old woman, have since been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
“Officers remain at the scene.”
