A man is being treated in hospital after he was stabbed in a house in North Lanarkshire.

The victim was attacked within a property in Grieve Road, Cumbernauld, at around 1.40am on Friday.

Emergency services took the victim to the University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie for treatment.

His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are encouraging members of the public to come forward with information.

A force spokesman said: “Police were called around 1.41am today to a report of a stabbing in Grieve Road, Cumbernauld.

“Emergency services attended the scene and a man was taken by ambulance to Monklands hospital.

“Medical staff describe his injuries as non-life threatening and he is currently in a stable condition.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and officers are appealing for any witnesses to contact Police Scotland via 101.”
