A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a dad-of-two who died after being hit by an ambulance.

Robert Bromell was knocked down on Corran Esplanade on the A85 in Oban on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 6.

The 39-year-old, known to family and friends as Hogan, was taken to Lorn and Islands Hospital but died a day later.

Lewis Budge faced a murder charge when he appeared at Oban Sheriff Court on Monday.

The 20-year-old from Oban made no plea and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

He will next appear in court within the next eight days.

The family of Mr Bromell, from Coventry, has launched an appeal to cover the costs of the funeral and bring his body back to England.

More than £2,300 has been raised to support the father-of-two’s family so far.
