Man hit by car that burst into flames in Christmas Eve 'murder attempt'

The 20-year-old was taken to hospital following the incident on Glasgow's Langlands Road on Saturday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted murder on Christmas Eve in Glasgow.

A 20-year-old man was struck by a car that also collided with parked vehicles and railings before catching fire on Langlands Road at around 3.15pm on Saturday.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he currently remains in a stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle made off.

Officers are treating the incident as an attempted murder and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective constable Mark Garner of Greater Glasgow CID said: “It’s vital we find out exactly what happened and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the incident to come forward.

“Also, if anyone has relevant dash cam footage of Langlands Road around 3pm on Saturday, please contact us.”
