A man is fighting for his life after an alleged attack in Renfrewshire.
The 33-year-old was taken to hospital following an incident within a property on MacDowell Street, Johnstone, at 1.40pm on Sunday afternoon.
Medical staff have described his condition as critical but stable.
A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident a short time later.
Police say enquires are at an early stage as they appeal for more information.
Detective inspector Ian Ross said: “We are continuing with enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and residents may continue to see a police presence in this area.
“We would urge anyone with information about this incident who has not yet spoken to police to get in touch as soon as possible.
“We are also carrying out enquiries into an incident in the Caldwell Avenue area of Linwood around 11am on Sunday which may be connected to this incident in Johnstone.”
