A man is fighting for his life after a Bentley crashed into a barrier on the East Kilbride expressway.

Emergency services were called to the A725 Expressway at around 10.40pm on Saturday, after a Bentley Continental GT lost control eastbound and struck a concrete barrier.

The car and the barrier subsequently suffered significant damage.

A 30-year-old driver of the car was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition has been described as critical.

The passenger, a 26-year-old woman, was also taken to the hospital and released following treatment.

The road was closed for around seven hours while collision investigation work was carried out.

Sergeant Elaine Scott said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision, who has yet to speak to us, to please get in touch.

“We are piecing together the circumstances of how the crash occurred and information is vital in assisting us to do that. I would also ask anyone with dash cam equipment to check their footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3844 of February 17 2024.
