A man has died after being struck by several cars on the M8 in Glasgow.

Police have appealed for information after the collision at Baillieston on Thursday night.

Around 8.45pm a man was hit while walking on the live lane of the M8 westbound, between J7A and J8, and died at the scene.

The road was closed overnight as police carried out an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland said: “We have yet to find out who the man is and also why he was walking on the carriageway.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw the incident happen, or to those who may have dash-cam footage and who have not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“The man is described as white, between 20 to 40 years of age, wearing a black Karrimor jacket, black jogging bottoms and black and grey Nike trainers.

“If you have any information about the crash or can assist with identifying the man, then please contact officers at Motherwell Road Policing Unit via 101.”
