A man has been charged with murder after a body was found in a parked car in Ayrshire.
Michael Thomson was discovered dead last month just off the A77.
Police are treating Mr Thomson’s death as murder, having initially treated it as unexplained.
The 54-year-old under arrest will appear at Ayr Sheriff Court tomorrow.
The 46-year-old was found in a blue Ford Fiesta parked on a lay-by near Dalmilling Golf Course, between Holmston and Whitletts roundabouts in Ayr.
The discovery was first reported to police at around 6pm on Saturday, July 25.
Detective chief inspector Alan McAlpine, senior investigating officer, said: “I would like to thank the public for their response to our appeals for information during our investigation.
“I’d also like to thank the local community for their patience during the part closure of the A77 while we conducted enquiries.”
The 54-year-old is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Thursday, August 6.
