A man has been charged in connection with a flat fire that led to residents being evacuated from a building in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Clarkston Road in Cathcart after the alarm was raised at around 11.15am on Sunday.

There were no reports of any injuries, however the area was evacuated and the road locked down by police.

On Monday, Police Scotland confirmed a 65-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

A force spokesperson said: “He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, September 7.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
