A man has been charged after two officers were injured after a disturbance in which police appear to have been chased with a chainsaw.
Officers attended the scene of an incident involving a weapon on Glasgow Road in Paisley at around 1pm on Monday, following a collision between a car and a stationary police vehicle.
Two officers were treated by paramedics and a 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with the disturbance.
Footage shared on social media appears to show a police officer being chased by a man running while holding a chainsaw.
Glasgow Road was closed between Buchlyvie Road and Allanton Avenue and drivers urged to avoid the area before it fully reopened at around 7.30pm
The man is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a disturbance involving a weapon, and a collision on Glasgow Road in Paisley.
“Two officers were injured and were treated by paramedics.
“The 30-yr-old man is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 7.”
