Man charged after ‘hazardous substance’ and ‘offensive weapon’ found during car stop in Glasgow

A man is due to appear in court after a “potentially hazardous substance” was recovered by police who had stopped a car in Glasgow.

Officers stopped a car in the Millburn Street area of Royston at around 5.30pm on Saturday, June 22, when the substance was found.

Scottish Fire and Rescue crews called in to assess the find before it was removed from the scene.

Officers arrested and charged a 45-year-old man in connection with drug and offensive weapon offences.

The man has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with drug and offensive weapon offences after a vehicle was stopped in the Millburn Street area of Glasgow around 5.30pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

“He has been released on undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

“A potentially hazardous substance was recovered during the incident.

“It was assessed by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and safely removed.”
