A man has been charged with firearm offences after armed police stormed a street in South Lanarkshire on Thursday.
The 57-year-old was arrested after members of the public reported seeing a man with a gun in Elphinstone Crescent, East Kilbride.
On Friday police confirmed he had been charged in connection with the incident and say he will appear at court on Monday.
A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 4.30pm on Thursday, police received a report of a man in possession of a firearm in Elphinstone Crescent, East Kilbride.
“Officers, supported by specialist firearms officers, attended and a 57-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
“He is due before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, 24 May, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
