A man has been arrested in connection with attempted murder after two people were taken to hospital in North Ayrshire.

There was a major emergency response after the incident on Neil Avenue, Irvine, at around 6.05pm on Saturday.

A Scottish Ambulance Service helicopter landed in the residential area as police erected a cordon closing off the street.

Two men, a 37-year-old and a 38-year-old, were taken to hospital.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested by police.

Detectives said enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said : “A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with attempted murder which happened at Neil Avenue, Irvine at around 6.05pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

“Two men aged 37 and 38 were taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing.”
