A man has been arrested by police in connection to an attempted murder in East Ayrshire.
An appeal for information was launched by officers after a 25-year-old man was hit by a car in Newmilns on Friday.
The incident occurred on Main Street at around 2:45 pm, before the man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where he was described as being in a stable condition.
Police have now confirmed that a 36-year-old man has been arrested.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Following an earlier appeal in relation to an attempted murder on Main Street, Newmilns on Friday June 18, a 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident, and remains in police custody.”
